Print Management Systems

The Ace Hardware Coupon Calendar Project.

This imprint project was primarily handled by Sells staff. Ace Hardware did provide artwork for the calendar and marketing efforts.

Multiple Sells-built web sites were used in this project, with various access levels for Ace and the Sells management, production, and Digital Products staffs.

Sells:
  • built an order management web site to collect dealer orders.
  • managed data collection
  • processed the imprint and order data
  • printed over 1600 calendar variations
  • shipped and tracked the orders globally
  • provided billing data to Ace Hardware

The ordering web site allowed dealers to easily repeat their order from the previous year, edit data from a previous order, create a new imprint design, even spread their order over multiple stores.

Through a project management web site, Sells was able to provide real-time statistics as the project progressed. Additional marketing efforts were then added by Ace during the project. Using data from previous years, this marketing was targeted at dealers most likely to place orders.

Using several custom Sells Digital Tools™, a huge amount of imprint data was flowed into our Computer-to-Plate system with no errors. Minimal overhead time was required through the pre-press and printing parts of the project even though there were over 1600 variations.

Additional Sells Digital Tools™ were used to guide the orders through our bindery, making sure the many printing and packaging configurations were exactly what was ordered. The orders generally shipped same day as binding, with a minimum of handling.

Once packages shipped, tracking information was available through a web site so any problems could be resolved quickly. Both UPS, FedEX, and truck freight data were collected.

Ace Hardware required detailed accounting data so they could bill participating dealers in this program. This information was easily exported from databases, that had been driving the various project web sites, according to the formats Ace preferred.
